Director Byun Young-joo of 'Mantis: The Killer's Outing' revealed the reason for casting actress Go Hyun-jung.
On the afternoon of the 4th, a production presentation for the new Friday-Saturday drama 'Mantis: The Killer's Outing' (hereafter 'Mantis') was held at SBS Mokdong in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Byun Young-joo, actors Go Hyun-jung, Jang Dong-yoon, Jo Sung-ha, Lee El, and others. The event was hosted by broadcaster Song Eun-i.
On that day, Director Byun stated, "As soon as I read the script, I thought it would be great if Go Hyun-jung could take on the role. I have loved Go Hyun-jung for a long time. I felt that if she could embody this role, an unimaginable face would emerge. It was one of the best choices of last year."
'Mantis' is a high-density crime thriller that unfolds as a detective, who has harbored hatred for the 'Mantis'—a cruel serial killer—teams up unexpectedly with his mother, the 'Mantis', after more than 20 years since the killer was caught, when copycat crimes begin to occur.
In the drama, Go Hyun-jung plays the role of the serial killer 'Mantis' (Jung Yi-shin), who brutally kills five men. She is expected to captivate the audience with her performance that oscillates between elegance and horror.
The drama will premiere on the 5th at 9:50 PM. Director Byun Young-joo and writer Lee Young-jong of 'Spring in Seoul' have teamed up for this project.
