Director Jang Tae-yu of 'The Tyrant's Chef' shared his thoughts on the casting process issues.

On the afternoon of the 19th, a production presentation for tvN's new weekend drama 'The Tyrant's Chef' was held at D-Cube City in Sindorim, Guro-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Director Jang Tae-yu, Lim Yoon-a, Lee Chae-min, Choi Gwi-hwa, Seo Yi-sook, Oh Ui-sik, and others.

Initially, actor Park Sung-hoon was cast as the male lead Lee Heon, but he stepped down due to controversy over a social media post related to 'Squid Game'.

In response, Director Jang Tae-yu stated, “(The incident) happened before the main filming and was an event that occurred during the preparation period,” and added, “Usually, when a project starts, there are many candidates. Casting doesn’t always go as desired, and I think of it as a past time during the process.”

He continued, “Although Lee Chae-min was not the actor I initially thought of, I am 120% satisfied with him, whom I met later,” and praised, “He did exceptionally well.”

'The Tyrant's Chef' is a survival fantasy romantic comedy about a chef who time slips to the past and meets a tyrant king with the worst temperament and absolute taste.

'The Tyrant's Chef' will premiere on the 23rd at 9:10 PM on tvN.
