Actress Oh Yoon-ah revealed that she plans to administer Wegovy (an obesity treatment) for the health of her son with developmental disabilities.
On the 15th, Oh Yoon-ah posted a video titled "Mom Oh Yoon-ah is scary but Song Min's laughter is everywhere!" on her YouTube channel 'Oh! Yoon-ah'.
In the video, Oh Yoon-ah enjoyed a fun time at an amusement park near Mallipo Beach in Taean, Chungnam, with her son.
After riding some attractions, while taking a break with a drink, Oh Yoon-ah drew attention by saying, "My Min (son) is also planning to get Wegovy. I think it will surprisingly be effective."
Wegovy is a GLP-1 class injection used for obesity treatment. It helps with weight loss by inducing a feeling of fullness and lowering blood sugar levels. However, the effectiveness can vary greatly from person to person, and side effects such as headaches, vomiting, and acute pancreatitis can occur, so caution is needed.
Oh Yoon-ah stated, "Min has gained weight after taking medication, so the doctor asked me if I would be willing to try it. He said he would let me know if I was interested." She added, "Min will be 20 next year. I am thinking of trying it once in the latter half of winter."
She also mentioned, "At first, I was worried it might be dangerous, but they said it seems okay for friends like Min. They say severe obesity is more dangerous," explaining her decision to pursue Wegovy treatment after much consideration.
Meanwhile, Oh Yoon-ah married a non-celebrity in January 2007 and gave birth to a son in August of the same year. After divorcing in June 2015, she has been raising her son, who has developmental disabilities, on her own.
