Actor Park Yoon-ho (22) confessed that he was able to grow even more through 'Trigger'.

Park Yoon-ho played the role of Park Kyu-jin, a precarious high school student suffering from school violence, in the Netflix series 'Trigger'.

Released on the 25th of last month, 'Trigger' is a gun disaster action thriller that depicts the story of two men who take up arms for their own reasons amidst the delivery of illegal firearms of unknown origin and the constant occurrence of gun incidents in South Korea, a gun-free country. Within three days of its release, it ranked 4th in the global TOP 10 series (non-English) category, and jumped to 2nd place in its second week.

After going through five auditions, Park Yoon-ho joined 'Trigger' and said, "At first, I met with the assistant director, and from the second round, I auditioned with the director. To be honest, I was very nervous during the auditions. By the last round, I was somewhat giving up, but I went in with a relaxed mind, and when I heard the words 'let's work together,' it felt like my heart melted."

He continued, "While auditioning, I had many discussions with the director about Kyu-jin, and gradually matched my synchronization with him. So by the time we started filming, I felt somewhat prepared and reassured."

Additionally, Park Yoon-ho said, "I usually dive deep into my characters, but the director mentioned that Kyu-jin has a strong sense of caring for his mother, so I focused on that as a key point and prepared hard. I like to try things out, so I even visited a shooting range before filming. I wanted to do well in the role of Kyu-jin, and I thought that understanding the weight of the gun would help me express the tension of the scene and Kyu-jin's emotions better."

Despite his hard work, Kyu-jin was not an easy character for him due to his limited acting experience. The scene depicting Kyu-jin's final choice was the most challenging.

Park Yoon-ho explained, "It was a very intense situation, and I had to show extreme emotions. There was a line where Kyu-jin sheds tears, and because I wanted to do well, I felt nervous and pressured. However, senior Kim Nam-gil reminded me to think about what Kyu-jin would feel without doing anything. He told me to look into his eyes and listen to his story, and as I looked into his eyes, tears came naturally. I was really grateful. After filming, the director also praised me for doing well."

He added about Kim Nam-gil, "He is a great senior to me, and I remember watching the drama 'Queen Seondeok' with my mom when I was young. I enjoyed watching the drama 'Those Who Read the Minds of Evil' that he starred in. He approached me in a cheerful and comfortable manner, which helped me relax."

Not only Kim Nam-gil, but another senior, Kim Young-kwang, also provided great help.

Park Yoon-ho mentioned, "Senior Kim Young-kwang also helped me a lot. Before filming the scene where Kyu-jin holds a gun, I had some time to talk with him while waiting. Since there was a previous scene where Kyu-jin and Moon-baek met, he suggested that it would be good to have some subtle points between the two of them, so we discussed it together."

He continued, "The camera director also said, 'Acting is about momentum.' Since they are great seniors to me, it was a situation where I couldn't help but feel more nervous. But they encouraged me by saying that I just needed to do it, which I remember. Everyone helped me a lot, and I was able to finish safely. Even now, I always keep senior Kim Nam-gil's advice in my heart. I remember to relax my body and focus on the situation in front of me, which helps me stay grounded."

“On the day of the release, I immediately watched 'Trigger'. I am currently actively going to auditions. During the drama 'Unknown Seoul', I heard from a friend's parents that they were enjoying it, but it seems that many of my friends have watched 'Trigger'. Usually, we don't contact each other after watching, but this time they told me they enjoyed it. I guess it might be because there is some action in it.”
