Actress Jang Hye-jin mentioned the help she received from Kim Sook when she was invited to the Cannes Film Festival with the movie 'Parasite'.
The MBC entertainment program 'Save Me! Homes' (hereafter 'Homes'), airing on the 14th at 10 PM, will look back on Kim Sook's broadcasting life as she celebrates her 30th anniversary since her debut and will go on a real estate tour.
This broadcast is a special commemorating the 30th anniversary of team leader Kim Sook's debut, reflecting on her tumultuous 30 years in broadcasting and her challenging life in Seoul. Kim Sook, who debuted as a KBS comedian in 1995, marks her 30th anniversary this year, stating, "It has been 30 years since I left Busan," and adds, "Today, I will follow the house listed on my resident registration and focus on the houses where I actually lived."
Joining Kim Sook as her real estate mate is her close friend from the entertainment industry, actress Jang Hye-jin. Appearing in the studio, Jang Hye-jin introduces herself as "Jang Hye-jin, Kim Sook's friend of 30 years," and showcases famous lines from the works she has appeared in, such as 'Parasite', 'Crash Landing on You', and 'Sokkakujang', receiving applause from the coordinators.
Jang Hye-jin introduces her close friend Kim Sook as someone who gives realistic advice to those who are not well-versed in the entertainment industry, and shares a story about receiving help from Kim Sook when she was invited to the Cannes Film Festival with the movie 'Parasite'. She recalls, "At that time, I was unknown and it was difficult to get a dress sponsorship. Kim Sook took me to a friend's editing shop and helped me choose clothes. I was able to safely attend the Cannes Film Festival wearing the clothes I picked there."
When asked about their connection, Kim Sook reveals, "We met at the largest acting academy in Busan during our senior year of high school. Hye-jin was the top student among 30-40 students. She was the only one among us who got into the Korea National University of Arts."
In response, Park Na-rae surprises everyone by confessing that she also took the entrance exam for the Korea National University of Arts in the past. She shares, "On the last day of submitting applications, I was taking a taxi to school, but the road was blocked due to civil defense training. I dramatically submitted my documents one minute before the deadline, but ultimately, I failed," drawing attention.
This 'Kim Sook's Turbulent 30 Years Real Estate Tour' features Kim Sook, Jang Hye-jin, and Joo Woo-jae together. The three head to Dangsan-dong in Yeongdeungpo-gu, where Kim Sook first found a house in Seoul. Kim Sook explains, "I found a semi-basement house located just a 10-minute drive from Yeouido. It was close enough to the broadcasting station that I could rush over whenever they called, so most rookie comedians lived around here."
Kim Sook also shares a humorous yet sad story from her time living in a semi-basement, recalling how the Han River used to flood in Dangsan-dong, and how she couldn't sleep during the rainy season, listening to the radio all night.
The special commemorating Kim Sook's 30th anniversary of debut! 'Turbulent 30 Years in Broadcasting' will be aired on Thursday, the 14th, at 10 PM on MBC's 'Save Me! Homes'.
