The new project by PD Yoo Jae-seok, ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’, has truly exploded with the ‘80s MBC Seoul Music Festival’.

In the episode aired on the 2nd, PD Yoo Jae-seok, Haha, Joo Woo-jae, and writer Lee Yi-kyung were shown wrapping up the second preliminary round of the ‘80s MBC Seoul Music Festival’.

Through the two rounds of preliminaries, not only were applicants who revived the 80s sentiment discovered, but the appearance of applicants whose voices are their fingerprints was also announced, generating a hot response. The classic songs from that era came back to life, stirring emotions, and it was a time that captivated both those who experienced the 80s and those who did not.

In this broadcast, the in-depth interviews of ‘Namsan Tower’ and ‘Gongjak Sangga’, which were put on hold in the first preliminary round, were conducted first. The identity of the gentleman with a deep voice, ‘Namsan Tower’, was revealed to be actor Park Young-kyu. Park Young-kyu passionately showed his willingness to participate in the music festival, but when it didn’t resonate, he summoned his ‘Dad of Midal’ character, making everyone burst into laughter. He also moved the interview room with the song ‘My Way’, which encapsulated his 40-year acting career.

Still, as Yoo Jae-seok's heart did not turn, Park Young-kyu began to plead, “Please give me a chance,” putting aside his pride. When Joo Woo-jae blocked the screen, Park Young-kyu urgently shouted, “This cut determines my life. How can you block my expression when I’m so desperate!” and declared, “Life is ‘one scene, one cut’.” Eventually, Park Young-kyu called Yoo Jae-seok “Jae-seok hyung!” and showed his passion without hesitation, impressing everyone with his sincerity towards the music festival.

The identity of ‘Gongjak Sangga’, who showed a presence breaking through the shadows, was revealed to be Park Myung-soo. Park Myung-soo threatened to gossip if he was eliminated in the preliminaries, showing a possessed demeanor. It turned out to be an action conscious of comments saying he had become gentler. Suddenly changing his stance, Park Myung-soo pleaded, “I want to do the music festival together,” eliciting laughter.

Park Myung-soo tried to capture Yoo Jae-seok's heart with a re-evaluation stage of ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’, which swallowed Lee Seung-chul from the 80s. When Joo Woo-jae commented that it seemed Park Myung-soo’s voice management was not good because he watched short forms all night, Park Myung-soo replied, “I’ll cut off my mobile communication,” showing his determination to sever ties with the world for acceptance. It left viewers curious whether both Park Young-kyu and Park Myung-soo would pass the preliminary round and take the stage.

Before the second preliminary round, the four gathered and strengthened their resolve. Haha, Joo Woo-jae, and Lee Yi-kyung discussed the rising reactions to the music festival, saying, “I have a feeling of a star PD,” while Yoo Jae-seok ignited his enthusiasm, saying, “This time, it really has to go well.”

Once again, talented individuals delighted the ears. ‘Sangbong Terminal’ sang ‘To J (Lee Sun-hee)’ with a different feeling from the original, receiving a response that the energy of the small giant Lee Sun-hee was felt, and passed.

‘Jongno Bookstore’ showcased clean high notes in two songs, ‘Sad Fate (Nami)’ and ‘Once Again to You (Byun Jin-seob)’, evoking admiration. Upon hearing the voice, Haha excitedly exclaimed, “Let’s make a star out of this one!” and Yoo Jae-seok confidently stated, “This friend will definitely attract fans,” believing it was a voice that would make girl fans cry. ‘Dong-A Planning’, which selected ‘Is Anyone There? (Han Young-ae)’, dominated the atmosphere with a soulful voice and received acceptance.

Noh Sa-yeon, who came to support the music festival as a representative singer of the 80s, appeared under the nickname ‘Dongbu Ichon-dong’ and sang her song ‘Meeting’. The national sing-along song sung by the original artist united everyone.

The identity of ‘International Roller Rink’, which selected ‘Is It Still a Dark Night? (Jeon Young-rok)’, was comedian Lim Woo-il. Lim Woo-il tried to make up for his poor pronunciation score with dance and flair, but received the evaluation, “You don’t have the skills to participate in the music festival. It would be better to stay until 2025,” and was eliminated. Another eliminated contestant, baseball player Yoo Hee-kwan, participated under the nickname ‘Dongdaemun Stadium’ and sang ‘Apartment (Yoon Soo-il)’ with great enthusiasm, but his identity was revealed due to an unmistakable hairstyle.

The last applicant, ‘Marronnier Park’, appeared with a guitar and presented the first acoustic live performance in the music festival preliminaries. He sang ‘I Lived Like a Fool (Kim Do-hyang)’ with a voice like a fingerprint, leaving a deep impression. Haha, who was captivated by his voice, excitedly said, “PD, we’re going to make it big! We’ve caught a big fish,” and Yoo Jae-seok exclaimed, “I didn’t expect such talented individuals to come out for our music festival. This person is a must. Let’s go together to the 80s.”

Meanwhile, the preview for the next broadcast featured members meeting new candidates for the ‘Insa-mo (Meeting of Unpopular People)’ that is currently being recruited, raising curiosity. ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’ airs every Saturday at 6:30 PM.
