Actor Im Seong-jae exudes a deadly charm in the role of an associate lawyer.
The new tvN weekend drama 'Seocho-dong', which premieres on July 5 (written by Lee Seung-hyun / directed by Park Seung-woo / planned by CJ ENM Studios / produced by Green Snake Media), depicts the joys and sorrows of five associate lawyers (lawyers employed by law firms and paid a salary) who commute to the Seocho-dong legal town every day.
In the drama, Ha Sang-ki is an associate lawyer at the law firm Hojeon, who believes that money is the most important thing. Actor Im Seong-jae (playing Ha Sang-ki), who has left a strong impression with a wide acting spectrum from gangsters to kind-hearted restaurant owners, is eagerly anticipated for his new transformation.
Im Seong-jae recalled his first impression of 'Seocho-dong', saying, "I really like Pyongyang cold noodles, and when I first read the script for 'Seocho-dong', I felt it was like Pyongyang cold noodles. It’s not about complicated cases or character relationships, but it’s something you can read through without any hindrance, and the stories you want to tell are clear, so I was looking forward to the aftertaste."
He also shared, "I felt that through Ha Sang-ki, I could portray a character different from those I usually play, someone living an ordinary life, so I chose it with ease." He expressed his affection for the character, saying, "There’s a saying that if a person is pitiful but looks cute, there’s no exit. I dare to think that Sang-ki could be that kind of character. He has an inexplicable cuteness, like a rolled omelet."
In particular, Im Seong-jae described the character of Ha Sang-ki as "a lawyer and an ordinary citizen," stating, "He seems to want to live in the flow of the times, but he is living with a clear dream tucked away in his heart. Sang-ki's hope becomes clearer, and there are friends who help him realize it. He is an ordinary person who wants to receive help and also give help, and that’s Sang-ki's charm," which adds to the intrigue.
Therefore, attention is focused on Im Seong-jae's acting points to bring out these characteristics of Ha Sang-ki. He mentioned, "I had to be quite ordinary within the relationships, so I tried to listen carefully to each of my friends," adding, "When I'm with Jo Chang-won (played by Kang Yoo-seok), Sang-ki's personality is more pronounced.
