The 'Han River Fishing Journal' used at Jeonryuri Port will be revealed.

EBS's cultural program 'PD Log' is a show where the PD works on-site to discuss South Korean society.

On the 23rd at 9:55 PM, the episode 'To Catch Fish, to the Han River!' will be aired on 'PD Log'.

Jeonryuri (顚流里), the only remaining port on the Han River and the northernmost port, means 'the water flows upside down.' This is because it is a brackish area where freshwater and seawater meet, creating strong currents twice a day.

15-year veteran PD Kim Yoon-young sets out to catch mullet in the Han River with 28-year veteran fisherman Jo Seon-nyeo. However, fishing in the Han River is not an easy task. The water rises in the early morning, the current is strong, and the mullet-catching boat keeps rocking.

After many ups and downs, they cast their nets near the fishing limit, and surprisingly, mullets as thick as a forearm start to jump into the net. The famous eel of Jeonryuri also comes up. The eel, which has a king (王) character drawn on its head, was once served at the royal banquet, and is recorded in Jeong Yak-jeon's 'Jasan Eobo' as 'the best among sashimi' due to its excellent taste and aroma. Jeonryuri Port, rich in both freshwater and seawater fish, is truly a golden fishing ground, producing various fish such as mullet, eel, yellow croaker, eel, shrimp, and crab in different seasons.

For some, the Han River is a space for rest and leisure, but for others, it is a workplace that sustains their livelihood. Captain Jang Seong-hwan, who became a Han River fisherman following in his father's footsteps, often takes a nap on the shrimp-catching boat to prepare for early morning fishing. He starts working before dawn and spends a busy day, but he says it is a joy to be able to work for his family. His only wish is for the Han River fishing tradition to continue to the next generation. Once bustling with fishermen, Jeonryuri Port now has only 26 licensed fishermen left.

Another fishing village remaining on the Han River, Hangju Naruteo, has 33 fishermen. Kim Min-woo, in his 30s and the son of Captain Kim Tae-sik, recently quit his job to start fishing with his father. While his father's generation only caught fish, he wants to try his hand at smart stores and aquaculture. Meet the young and ambitious Han River fisherman.

The episode 'To Catch Fish, to the Han River!' where PD Kim Yoon-young directly challenges to become a Han River fisherman will air on June 23 at 9:55 PM on EBS1.
