Actress Ji So-yeon shared her struggles in married life.
In the episode aired on the 9th, SBS ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny’ depicted the daily life of the couple Song Jae-hee and Ji So-yeon.
On this day, Ji So-yeon revealed that she is currently a 3-year entrepreneur. She achieved an incredible milestone of 1 billion won in annual sales just three years after starting her advertising agency. Ji So-yeon explained, “I act as a bridge connecting brands and celebrities, figuring out how to appeal to influencers or entertainers and how to market new products.”
Despite being pregnant with twins, Ji So-yeon maintained a professional appearance as a CEO by wearing a suit and high heels during client meetings. In response, Song Jae-hee expressed his admiration, saying, “I respect my wife. I am just a servant to my lady.”
However, during a meeting with clients, Song Jae-hee kept making trivial jokes, which earned him Ji So-yeon's disapproving looks. When Ji So-yeon admonished him, Song Jae-hee revealed his disappointment.
Song Jae-hee said, “I felt hurt because it seemed like my efforts were not being recognized. We are family, not just colleagues. I know I perform better when praised rather than scolded, and I wondered if you really wanted to work with me. Maybe it would be better for you to hire someone you prefer.”
Hearing this, Ji So-yeon responded, “My husband is being too extreme. He was just saying what he needed to as a representative, but it sounded like he was telling me to do it alone. That’s very irresponsible. I wish he wouldn’t say such things.”
Meanwhile, Ji So-yeon revealed that she was a victim of a fraudulent marriage, saying, “After getting married, I understood the saying that you don’t feed a fish you’ve already caught.” She continued, “In the early days of our marriage, my husband was not ordinary. It was hard for me because he kept forcing his desires on me. There was no point where I could persuade him. He was the only answer. He interfered with everything I did. He told me not to go to English classes, not to meet friends, and just to take care of the house.”
Ji So-yeon mentioned that after accommodating Song Jae-hee for three years, she experienced burnout. She said, “I need my own time, but my husband was involved in everything I did, making it hard to breathe. I even prayed to God, asking to be legally separated.”
Later, Ji So-yeon went to New Zealand alone. She explained, “We had planned to go to New Zealand for student missionary work, but my husband couldn’t go due to drama filming. So, I stayed in New Zealand alone for eight months. I took that time to recover. I faced myself as I am without anyone judging me.”
Song Jae-hee said, “Before that, we often fought, but I thought that was just how life was. After being apart from my wife for eight months, I missed her so much. But when she came back to Korea, she said, ‘I was so happy there. I want to go back.’ That was a huge shock. I realized I had made her really suffer. I thought I hadn’t done anything right, and from that moment, I decided I needed to change.”
