“I’m in a supportive relationship with Seong Hae-eun.”
Jung Hyun-kyu (27), an influencer who gained attention through the Tving dating program ‘Transit Love’, mentioned his relationship with influencer Seong Hae-eun (30), with whom he became a final couple.
On the 27th, an interview was held at a cafe located in Anguk-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, with Jung Jong-yeon PD (49), the director of the Netflix variety show ‘Devil's Plan: Death Room’ (abbreviated as Devil's Plan 2), and the final winner Jung Hyun-kyu (27).
‘Devil's Plan 2’ is a brain survival game variety show where players from various professions compete over seven days, following the first season released in 2023. It concluded with Jung Hyun-kyu's victory in the 12th episode (final episode) released on the 20th.
On that day, when asked about the public's reaction regarding his rumored breakup with Seong Hae-eun, Jung Hyun-kyu responded, “We are in a supportive relationship. We are doing well,” and shifted the conversation. He added, “I think we have been hesitant about our activities as a couple. While we met through the show and gained public interest, we were reluctant to let our relationship become a product itself,” explaining, “So, I tried to protect it and kept it hidden, expressing our relationship indirectly.”
Previously, Jung Hyun-kyu gained attention as ‘Seoul National University Song Kang’ through the Tving original variety show ‘Transit Love’ Season 2. He became a hot topic when he ended up as a final couple with Seong Hae-eun, but since April, there have been no posts from the two on social media, leading to breakup rumors.
Jung Hyun-kyu is also gaining attention through ‘Devil's Plan 2’ after ‘Transit Love’. Although he became the winner, he has faced criticism for his direct expressions and actions towards others, such as “Can you do math?” It has been a week since the show ended, but reactions targeting him continue to appear on his social media and online communities.
With Jung Hyun-kyu becoming a hot topic as an influencer, curiosity arose about his future plans. When asked if he has any plans to transition into broadcasting, he stated, “This experience made me reflect on myself, and I realized I am an immature and imperfect person. I want to take time to heal myself alone. I don’t have specific plans for broadcasting or entertainment activities.”
Jung Hyun-kyu became the final winner by defeating Yoon So-hee in the finals. Regarding the prize money of 380 million won, he said, “I received the prize money after the show ended. It’s not specific, but I want to treat the cast to a nice meal first. I also plan to donate some. This decision is not based on the reactions after the show, but I originally had the intention to donate.”
