The girl group (G)I-DLE has revealed the behind-the-scenes of their contract renewal for the first time.
On the afternoon of the 17th, all members of (G)I-DLE appeared on MBC's entertainment program 'Knowing Bros' (hereafter '전참시').
In this episode, (G)I-DLE appeared as the first guests. The members, who have dedicated managers, headed to their schedule locations with their respective managers.
So-yeon's manager said, "So-yeon tends to lose things easily, so she carries a case like a wallet," showing their close relationship. Mi-yeon's manager added, "Both of them are so comfortable that they don't clean up well," and revealed, "Mi-yeon says she's on a diet but eats everything in front of her. However, she doesn't exercise separately."
Following the lively Woo-gi and her manager, Shuhua's appearance was shown. Shuhua's manager stated, "Shuhua doesn't really like to talk, and I also don't talk much while driving. It's a business relationship," honestly sharing their dynamic.
The managers commented, "You might think we successfully renewed our contract and get along well, but it's really different. It's a mess. Each of us has a different personality, and it's amazing how we managed to renew the contract and come together as one team."
Finally, Minnie’s car interior was revealed. Minnie said, "I always wear purple on our debut anniversary, but today the lucky color is yellow," following a Thai tradition.
Upon arriving at the shop, the five greeted each other, shouting, "It's noisy!" and "Should I take a picture?" Mi-yeon yelled, "Where are you calling me from your seat!" and the manager explained, "Since there are three foreign members, we decided to be comfortable with each other."
The manager revealed Shuhua's quiet nature, saying, "When she's getting her hair and makeup done, she just stares. She doesn't like looking at her phone either," highlighting Shuhua's personality.
After finishing their music listening session, the members gathered at Minnie's place. Minnie prepared Thai-style stir-fried noodles called Pad See Ew, while Woo-gi quickly made Chinese-style stir-fried pork belly. During the meal, So-yeon said, "How is it already the 7th anniversary? Didn't it seem like we would cry at the awards? The manager brothers were waiting outside the waiting room but kept trying to come in. We were signing our contract... But if we hadn't renewed, four of us would have had our contracts end today," revealing the behind-the-scenes of their contract renewal.
When asked why they signed the contract in the waiting room, So-yeon explained, "We kept discussing and decided to make a decision by the awards day. I was actually independent on the awards day."
Regarding the contract expiration in November, she said, "Actually, the contract was supposed to end in October, but I didn't know well. I wrote about my situation, but it became an issue? The company knew everything. We were rehearsing and discussing well."
So-yeon, who worked hard for the contract renewal, stated, "As the leader, I thought our team was made by five members, so we insisted on doing it together." Mi-yeon added, "So-yeon put in a lot of effort by interviewing each member for the contract terms," to which the panel admired, "So you played the role of a lawyer." So-yeon proudly said, "I changed one word at a time."
So-yeon, who dislikes gatherings, confessed, "Regarding meals, I... prefer being alone. I think we are close even if we don't gather. We don't even eat together, but we are really close," she shared. After some coordination, the members decided to gather when Woo-gi suggests it.
The next guest to appear was Shin Gi-ru. He said, "I'm having a fan meeting for my 20th debut anniversary, and there won't be an entrance fee. Instead of producing hundreds of goods, I'm going to take photos. I'll take about 20 pictures and make 50 copies. I plan to include two semi-nude photos that show sides of me that I haven't shown before. It's sheer, but that kind of feeling?" making a shocking statement.
Shin Gi-ru explained, "I want to show the side of me that I'm most embarrassed about to those who like me the most, rather than the side I always show."
Upon arriving at the psychological counseling center, Shin Gi-ru underwent a psychological test. The counselor said, "You are an ENFJ. You think of others. It's not so much that you're fake, but it's unfortunate. There might not be anyone telling you, 'It's okay not to do that,' so people around you might not realize how hard you're trying. You seem like a sensitive girl," which brought Shin Gi-ru to tears.
When asked, "Aren't you a bit tired, even if it's not burnout?" Shin Gi-ru opened up, "When I was unknown, it wasn't really hard. The only person I could rely on was myself. But now, if I say something, people might think I'm just saying it because I'm lucky. I've held it in for years."
As Shin Gi-ru shed tears, Lee Young-ja said, "It's the first time I've seen Gi-ru cry. You must have had a hard time," and they both cried together. After the counseling session, Shin Gi-ru said, "I feel like I've relieved some of it," showing a slightly more relaxed demeanor.
Later, Shin Gi-ru met Jang Do-yeon, Heo An-na, and Lee Eun-hyung at a chicken restaurant. Heo An-na shared, "I did 'Drip Girls' with Gi-ru. While passing through the stage, she said to me, 'I need to go to the bathroom.' Her face was blue. So I suggested to the audience, 'Just a moment! Shin Gi-ru needs to go to the bathroom.' But I felt that she would do well because the audience responded, 'Go and come back,'" revealing a past behind-the-scenes story that made everyone laugh.
