MBC, known as the 'home of election broadcasting,' is unveiling various election participation campaigns just over ten days before the 21st presidential election.
◆ 'Progressive vs Conservative' What is My Political Orientation?... Political Orientation Diagnosis Service 'Political Blood Type'
The first election participation campaign prepared by the MBC Election Broadcasting Planning Team is the political orientation diagnosis service, 'Political Blood Type.' This service is designed for voters curious about their political orientation ahead of the election, considering that politics can feel difficult and burdensome. It uses the theme of 'blood type' to approach the 2030 generation in a friendly manner. As of May 14, just three days after its launch, participation has exceeded 200,000, gaining explosive popularity in communities.
The Political Blood Type does not classify political orientation in a binary manner, such as conservative vs. progressive, but analyzes four factors: attitude towards people and traditional values, willingness for systemic change, and compliance with authority, categorizing them into 16 types. Participants can diagnose their innate temperament and values formed through life experiences through 36 questions and check their political spectrum based on this.
The Political Blood Type test is designed based on a web survey (MBC-Korea Research, April 22 - April 27) with the consultation of Professor Kook Seung-min from Michigan State University, Professor Park Sun-kyung from Korea University, and Professor Ha Sang-eung from Sogang University. It can be participated in through the MBC 'Public Opinion M' website and the 'Selection 2025' website, which will be launched on the 19th.
◆ 'Let's Vote! Selection 2025'... "Take a photo promising to participate in voting and receive a prize"
From the 16th until election day, the MBC Election Broadcasting Planning Team will conduct the 'Let's Vote! Selection 2025' election participation campaign in collaboration with the self-studio 'Don't Look Up,' which has captivated the MZ generation, by setting up a photo booth in MBC Square in Sangam-dong, Seoul. The photo booth will be designed in the shape of a polling station, with photo frames and emojis tailored to the election theme. Additionally, MBC and Don't Look Up will hold events offering prizes such as tickets to popular MBC entertainment programs like 'Show! Music Core' and 'King of Mask Singer,' as well as chicken and coffee gift certificates to encourage participation.
◆ 'Junbang Teaching Assistant' Surprises as a Ballot Marker... MBC x Election Commission Election Campaign Video Released
The MBC Election Broadcasting Planning Team has also released a pre-election campaign video featuring popular YouTuber 'Junbang Teaching Assistant.' The video, 'A Day in the Life of a Ballot Marker,' prepared by MBC and the National Election Commission, features Junbang Teaching Assistant, Moon Jun-soo, as a ballot marker responsible for the precious choices of 40 million voters nationwide. With 460,000 YouTube subscribers, Junbang Teaching Assistant is a popular creator known for delicately and wittily visualizing light everyday topics such as 'How to Get Angry Wisely' and 'The Art of Asking for Favors You Can't Refuse.'
Transformed into a ballot marker, Mr. Moon easily conveys voting guidelines and encouragement messages while navigating the ballot. He emphasizes that voters must only mark one candidate from one party on the ballot, that each vote can be a significant milestone that changes the future, and that voters should focus on policies rather than personalities. MBC News Desk anchors Jo Hyun-yong and Kim Su-ji also make cameo appearances to stress the 'value of a vote.'
Through this engagingly produced video, MBC and the National Election Commission aim to encourage participation in the election and emphasize the importance of policy-based elections. The campaign video will be showcased on MBC and the National Election Commission's official channels.
Content produced by the MBC Election Broadcasting Planning Team will be released on the official 'Selection 2025' website and YouTube channel, which will be launched on the 19th.
