Jung Kyung-ho from ‘Labor Attorney Noh Mujin’ shared his thoughts on the work and character.

The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama ‘Labor Attorney Noh Mujin’ (written by Kim Bo-tong and Yoo Seung-hee, directed by Im Soon-rye and Lee Han-jun) will premiere on the 30th at 9:50 PM. It is a comic fantasy action drama that depicts the labor problem-solving adventures of a labor attorney who can see ghosts. The fresh profession of ‘labor attorney’, which is not a familiar profession like lawyer, doctor, or prosecutor, combined with the unique setting of ghosts consulting on labor issues, is attracting potential viewers.

At the center of ‘Labor Attorney Noh Mujin’ is actor Jung Kyung-ho, who plays the title role. Known for his solid acting skills and excellent character portrayal, Jung Kyung-ho is already recognized as a ‘trustworthy actor’, but this project is even more special as it marks his first title role. We asked Jung Kyung-ho why he chose ‘Labor Attorney Noh Mujin’ and how he prepared for the character.

‘Labor Attorney Noh Mujin’ is a collaboration between writer Kim Bo-tong, who sharply depicted the realities of military life in the OTT drama ‘D.P.’, and writer Yoo Seung-hee, who delivered a warm resonance with the film ‘I Can Speak’. It promises a solid story that balances fun and message. The story unfolds in episodes, showcasing the various labor scenes and the cheerful resolution of labor issues.

Regarding his reason for participating, Jung Kyung-ho stated, “The script was fun. The story of a realistic character, a labor attorney who works for a living, contains both emotion and humor. I thought it was a work with healthy energy that could relieve the viewers' fatigue.”

Having previously played roles as a prison guard, doctor, and instructor, achieving success and earning the title of ‘professional actor’, Jung Kyung-ho is now transforming into a hero labor attorney who works for the laborers, raising expectations.

When asked what attracted him to the character Noh Mujin, Jung Kyung-ho replied, “I was drawn to the character because it shows growth both as a person and as a labor attorney while helping the ghosts who suffered unjust deaths due to industrial accidents. I tried to understand the profession itself by meeting and talking with actual labor attorneys. Since Mujin is not a character who chases profit, I wanted to express that by portraying him with a messy appearance or an unrefined look.”

The character setting of Noh Mujin, who can see ghosts and listens to their unfinished stories, also felt special to Jung Kyung-ho. He said, “It’s my first time collaborating with ghosts,” and added, “So, I researched gestures a lot to ensure the personality of the ghost character could be well expressed in my acting, trying to show something new each time.” This raised expectations for Jung Kyung-ho's diverse performance that blends seriousness and comedy.

MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Labor Attorney Noh Mujin’, which heralds the birth of Jung Kyung-ho's new life work, will premiere on May 30 at 9:50 PM.
