Creator Han Jun-hee revealed the planning intentions of "Your Taste" and the behind-the-scenes of casting the four actors.
The Genie TV original "Your Taste" (written by Jeong Soo-yoon, directed by Park Dan-hee), which will premiere on May 12 at 10 PM, is a kitchen battle romance about a chaebol heir, Han Beom-woo (played by Kang Ha-neul), who becomes a "recipe hunter" by acquiring a small restaurant to inherit a food company, and a stubborn chef, Mo Yeon-joo (played by Go Min-si), who runs a one-table restaurant without a sign in Jeonju.
Director Han Jun-hee, known for directing hit films such as "Chinatown" and "The Drug King," as well as the "D.P" series, adds significance to his role as a creator following the "Weak Hero Class" series. Notably, unlike his previous works that had a heavy and socially satirical tone, "Your Taste" focuses on the sweet and chewy romance between chaebol second-generation Han Beom-woo and passionate chef Mo Yeon-joo, drawing attention.
Creator Han Jun-hee expressed his feelings about taking on the project, saying, "The creator is in a position to plan the entire project. I took on various roles, including planning the script, direction, staffing, casting suggestions, and overseeing post-production. The role of a creator comes with great responsibility, so we all worked hard to create good results in a joyful process."
He also stated, "Your Taste is a story about young people working hard, loving, and living in a small restaurant in a regional city. It is clearly a different genre from the works I have done so far, but this time I wanted to portray another aspect of today's youth in a warmer and more humorous way," revealing his planning intentions and sparking curiosity.
Additionally, he candidly shared the behind-the-scenes of casting Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si. "Kang Ha-neul was the number one, or rather the zero priority casting choice for director Park Dan-hee. His flexible, lively, and energetic presence was essential for 'Your Taste.' He actually showed amazing performance in the work," expressing deep trust in Kang Ha-neul.
He continued, "I filmed an omnibus-style short film with Go Min-si last year, and I thought she had a chameleon-like face. After planning the project, she was the first to receive the script. You will be able to see a new side of Go Min-si, who has recently stood out in intense genre works, in this project," increasing expectations.
Moreover, he revealed episodes related to actors Kim Shin-rok and Yoo Soo-bin. "Actor Kim Shin-rok was first recommended by Kim Myung-jin, the director of 'Shortcake.' She has shown excellent acting in many works, and while she has mostly portrayed serious roles in previous works, I thought it would be fun to see her in a more lovely and witty role this time. As for Yoo Soo-bin, this is already our fourth collaboration. There’s no doubt that she is a great actress," expressing affection for the actors he worked with.
Finally, creator Han Jun-hee stated, "'Your Taste' aims to be a drama that can be enjoyed comfortably and deliciously, offering big laughs, a warm feeling, and a small serving of happiness." He added, "I hope it becomes a home drama that families and friends can gather around the TV, enjoying delicious food while laughing and chatting together," raising interest in the first broadcast.
Meanwhile, the Genie TV original "Your Taste" will premiere on May 12 at 10 PM on ENA, and streaming will be available for free on KT Genie TV and Genie TV mobile right after the broadcast.
