BTS Jin's appearance in the Netflix variety show ‘Great Chaos Gianjang’ concluded with the release of episodes 7-9 on the 22nd. Jin left a positive impression on viewers as a ‘versatile employee’ showcasing his skills, sense, and diligence.
Through his agency Big Hit Music, Jin shared, “The filming of ‘Great Chaos Gianjang’ that took place last summer has finally come to an end. When I first arrived on Ulleungdo and saw Gianjang in person, I felt overwhelmed, but seeing myself naturally blending in there made me smile. Honestly, there were tough moments, but looking back, it was an unforgettable and precious time.”
He continued, “I sincerely thank Mr. Gian84, Ms. Ji Yeo-eun, and all the guests for their hard work. I also want to express my gratitude to the ARMY (the fandom name) and viewers who have loved ‘Great Chaos Gianjang’ until now.”
In ‘Great Chaos Gianjang’, Jin took on various tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and repairs, serving as a strong mental support for Gian84. His ability to handle anything earned him the nickname ‘McGyjin’ (McGyver + Jin). Even when faced with discomfort, he firmly maintained the basic concept and principles of Gianjang, drawing attention with his down-to-earth demeanor contrasting with the title of ‘world-class’.
Jin boasted high popularity, driving the program's success. He ranked first in the topic analysis category for non-drama cast members in the TV-OTT integrated rankings released by Good Data Corporation's FUNdex for the third week of April. This was a five-step increase from the previous week, proving that Jin's genuine attitude shown in ‘Great Chaos Gianjang’ received a warm response from viewers.
Additionally, according to the viewing rankings announced by Netflix on the 17th (counting period April 7-13), ‘Great Chaos Gianjang’ ranked 6th in the Netflix Global TOP 10 Series (Non-English) category, being the only variety show to make it into the top 10.
Meanwhile, Jin will return to his main career in music. He will release his second mini-album ‘Echo’ on May 16 and meet fans worldwide.
