In the MBC current affairs program 'Real Story Investigation Team' airing on the 24th, the story of a 15-year-old boy who became an assault murderer will be covered.
In 2017, the late Mr. Ko Gwang-soo moved to a small seaside village in Muan, Jeollanam-do to spend his old age. Despite being over seventy, he was able to settle in a foreign land thanks to his local neighbors in Muan. However, Mr. Ko lost his life due to a close neighbor.
The incident occurred last October when Mr. Ko visited his neighbor's house and a dispute arose. The neighbor's son, a middle school student named Park Chan-hee (pseudonym), who had been loitering around Mr. Ko, entered a shed and reappeared wearing work gloves. He then charged at Mr. Ko and struck him in the face, causing Mr. Ko's skull to fracture, and he ultimately died four days later.
The bereaved family expressed their frustration that six months after the incident, the assailant Park (pseudonym) is still continuing his daily life, having even entered high school.
How could such a thing happen? It is said that the reason is that the assailant is under investigation without detention. Despite clear evidence captured on CCTV and the shocking nature of the victim's death, why has the police investigation been ongoing for six months? Moreover, since the assailant lives next door, the bereaved family expressed their anxiety about possibly encountering him on the street.
