Netflix has confirmed the production and casting of a new series titled 'True Education'.

Along with the announcement of the new series 'True Education', Netflix revealed the casting lineup including actors Kim Mu-yeol, Lee Sung-min, Jin Ki-joo, and Pyo Ji-hoon. 'True Education' depicts the refreshing and exhilarating true education provided by the newly established Education Rights Protection Agency, created to protect the shattered educational authority and environment in South Korea due to overstepping students, teachers, and parents.

'True Education' is a newly adapted and planned work that borrows the setting from the webtoon of the same name, addressing the realistic issues of education with bold and straightforward messages that resonate deeply. Director Hong Jong-chan and writer Lee Nam-kyu are expected to portray a story that is essential in this era with a refined perspective and a more realistic and intense message.

Director Hong Jong-chan depicted the issues of the juvenile law system that has existed in our society but has never been examined through the Netflix series 'Juvenile Justice', telling the stories of characters struggling behind the scenes. He has previously portrayed the stories of characters facing various phases of life with depth in dramas like 'Dear My Friends'. There is great anticipation for how he will depict the characters and situations in 'True Education', which involves students, teachers, and parents with different issues in the educational field.

Writer Lee Nam-kyu, who has presented warm yet thought-provoking topics through Netflix series 'Morning Comes to Psychiatric Ward' and the drama 'Dazzling', raises curiosity about what message he will convey through 'True Education'.

Kim Mu-yeol and Lee Sung-min, who collaborated with director Hong Jong-chan in 'Juvenile Justice', join 'True Education'. Kim Mu-yeol, who has shown characters that traverse between good and evil through Netflix series 'Juvenile Justice', 'Sweet Home', and films 'The Outlaws 4' and 'Honest Candidate', will play the role of Na Hwa-jin, a supervisor at the Education Rights Protection Agency, solving various problems occurring in schools in his own refreshing way, providing viewers with a satisfying and exhilarating experience.

Kim Mu-yeol stated, "Everyone's enthusiasm was tremendous. Before discussing the difficult topic of education, I felt once again that I was with colleagues I can trust and rely on while reading the script together, which gave me great strength. It was an exciting start to the story we will create together."

Lee Sung-min, who has shown persuasive and relatable acting through films 'Spring in Seoul', 'Handsome Guys', Netflix series 'Juvenile Justice', and dramas 'Luck is on My Side' and 'The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate', will portray Choi Gang-seok, the Minister of Education who established the Education Rights Protection Agency.

Lee Sung-min expressed, "I was impressed by Lee Nam-kyu's previous works, so I have high expectations. This is my second collaboration with director Hong Jong-chan after 'Juvenile Justice', so I have trust in working with him. Above all, I am happy to be able to work with excellent actors. I will do my best to present a good work."

Jin Ki-joo, who has shown her talent through films 'Little Forest', 'Midnight', and dramas 'Undercover High School', 'Uncle Sam-sik', and 'By Chance, You', will play the role of Im Han-rim, a supervisor at the Education Rights Protection Agency, bringing a new charm to the character. Pyo Ji-hoon, who appeared in dramas 'Good Partner', 'Yumi's Cells 2', and 'Hotel Del Luna', will portray Bong Geun-dae, a genius civil servant at the Education Rights Protection Agency.

Jin Ki-joo commented, "The script, which firmly stands on the reality we are living in, was attractive. It makes us think about what we need to consider with the fantasy of the 'Education Rights Agency' added to that reality. The reading session was alive in itself. Thanks to that, I gained a sense of tension and anticipation for the time I will live as 'Im Han-rim'."

Pyo Ji-hoon shared, "While watching 'Juvenile Justice', I was amazed at how powerful a message a drama can convey to society. I am excited and happy to be able to work with director Hong Jong-chan through 'True Education', along with respected senior Lee Sung-min, Kim Mu-yeol, Jin Ki-joo, and other actors I wanted to collaborate with. It is a work with a heavy message and an anticipated project with a stellar production team, so it is true that there is pressure and tension, but I will do my best to learn a lot on set and contribute to completing a good drama."

'True Education' will be released on Netflix.
