In ‘Check-in Hanyang’, Kim Ji-eun revealed her true identity to Kim Ui-sung.
In the 10th episode of Channel A's weekend drama ‘Check-in Hanyang’ (written by Park Hyun-jin, directed by Myung Hyun-woo and Noh Gyu-yeob), which aired on the 19th, Hong Deok-soo (played by Kim Ji-eun) discovered that her true enemy, who killed her father Hong Min-sik (played by Choi Deok-moon) 12 years ago, is Cheon Bang-joo (played by Kim Ui-sung). The scene where Hong Deok-soo confesses her identity to Cheon Bang-joo, who also killed her mother Jwa Pan-dak (played by Kim Young-sun), added to the tension as the episode concluded.
As a result, the viewership ratings responded positively. According to Nielsen Korea, the broadcast on January 20 recorded a rating of 3.031% among paid broadcasting households in the metropolitan area, with a peak rating of 3.79%. This marks the highest rating for ‘Check-in Hanyang’ to date, proving the continued interest and love from viewers as the series enters its latter half.
In this episode, Hong Deok-soo escaped a crisis by claiming that Guhil (played by Lim So-yoon) is his fiancée in front of Lee Eun-ho (played by Bae In-hyuk), who thinks of him as a woman, after Cheon Jun-hwa (played by Jung Geon-joo) confessed his feelings. Lee Eun-ho and Cheon Jun-hwa were shocked and frozen by Hong Deok-soo's sudden engagement declaration. Later, Lee Eun-ho asked Cheon Jun-hwa why he confessed to Hong Deok-soo, who had said he would confess to the woman he loves. Cheon Jun-hwa downplayed the situation by saying it was just practice.
While at Yongcheonru, Jwa Pan-dak encountered Seol Mae-hwa (played by Kim Min-jung) while looking for a guest room. Seol Mae-hwa warned Jwa Pan-dak, saying, “You must leave immediately.” Hong Deok-soo rescued Jwa Pan-dak from Seol Mae-hwa and took her into a guest room, easing the atmosphere by inviting Jwa Pan-dak and Guhil to explore Yongcheonru.
The next day, Jwa Pan-dak cooked at Yongcheonru to feed Hong Deok-soo. During this time, a Qing Dynasty envoy staying at Geumokdang had his breakfast served three times, and while Jwa Pan-dak briefly stepped away, the guest service manager Yoo Su-in (played by Kim Young-jun) served the soup to the guests. The envoy, impressed by the taste, requested 100 servings of soup for himself and his companions, and Jwa Pan-dak completed the order with the help of the four friends, providing assistance to Yongcheonru.
Meanwhile, Byeongpan (played by Yoon Je-moon) learned that the military officer Lee Eun (Lee Eun-ho) was at Yongcheonru and used this as leverage to pick on Cheon Bang-joo. At that time, Cheon Bang-joo advised that Lee Eun should marry Do Gyeong (played by Kwon Eun-bin) to make him part of Byeongpan's family. Byeongpan, holding the royal sword found at the scene of the Seochon murder case, went to threaten King Lee Hyun-wi (played by Han Jae-seok) and secured a promise for Lee Eun and Do Gyeong's engagement.
At Yongcheonru, Jwa Pan-dak and Guhil prepared to return home. At that moment, Jwa Pan-dak sought out Seol Mae-hwa again and directly asked who was looking for Hong Deok-soo. After finishing her story, Seol Mae-hwa said, “I have prepared horses at the back gate. You must bring Hong Deok-soo back as soon as possible. If you are late, both Hong Deok-soo and Jae-on will die,” giving her a chance to escape. Not knowing what she had heard, Jwa Pan-dak frantically set out to find Hong Deok-soo.
During her search, Jwa Pan-dak encountered Cheon Bang-joo and remembered that he was the one who had tried to kill the young Hong Jae-on, who had fled during the chaos 12 years ago. Cheon Bang-joo, who came to find Jwa Pan-dak as she was packing to leave, committed another evil act by killing Jwa Pan-dak, who had hidden Hong Deok-soo 12 years ago and raised him until now.
Afterward, Hong Deok-soo discovered Jwa Pan-dak's lifeless body and mourned deeply. Even as she was dying, Jwa Pan-dak worried about Hong Deok-soo, saying, “The one who came to kill you is the Great Master Bang-joo. Hurry and escape.” Contrary to Jwa Pan-dak's advice to “run away,” Hong Deok-soo stood before Cheon Bang-joo, expressing his desire for revenge and stating, “There is someone who stabbed my father to death 12 years ago and killed my mother who raised me.”
Hong Deok-soo then looked Cheon Bang-joo straight in the eye and falsely revealed, “That person is Seol Mae-hwa, the Great Master.” Along with this, Hong Deok-soo declared, “My father is Hong Min-sik,” and “I am Hong Jae-on,” shocking not only Cheon Bang-joo but also the viewers.
Meanwhile, Channel A's weekend drama ‘Check-in Hanyang’ airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 PM.
