The group Purple Kiss has made a long-awaited summer comeback. Having primarily showcased dark concepts in the past, they are determined to spread happiness with their new dreamy song.
Purple Kiss (Na Go-eun, Doshi, Lee Re, Yuki, Chae-in, Suan) released their second single 'I Miss My...' on the 16th. The new album starts with the question 'What is happiness?' and conveys the message that true happiness exists in the emotions surrounding us in this very moment, after going through longing and wandering.
Before the comeback, Suan shared her thoughts in an interview with Maeil Business Star Today, saying, "This album comes after a 9-month hiatus, and we prepared hard for it. We returned with a dreamy concept and beautiful visuals that you haven't seen before, so I hope you listen to our song a lot."
Lee Re added, "The title track is a song about happiness. I hope listeners feel happy as I prepared it while thinking of my happy moments," while Doshi smiled and said, "Since the word 'happiness' is mentioned a lot, I hope this activity becomes a happy one."

Purple Kiss has previously released intense songs that matched concepts like witches, zombies, and eccentrics. However, this time, the title track 'DOREMI' is different. It showcases a unique charm with bright and ethereal pluck sounds combined with dreamy lyrics.
"Since we are making a comeback in summer, we wanted to show our own refreshing vibe. At the same time, we didn't want to lose the essence of Purple Kiss, so we chose a title track that doesn't lean too much towards refreshing or dark," said Chae-in.
Was there any difficulty in challenging a new concept?
Suan mentioned, "I received a lot of feedback while learning the choreography at first. Since we had only done intense songs, we unconsciously had a witch-like vibe. After working hard, I think all the members have found beautiful dance lines now."
Chae-in also reflected on her concerns before recording, saying, "It was a song that could easily come off as boring, so I tried to add a lot of points. As I researched, the details increased, and I realized that if I wasn't careful, I could go off-key. I remember being mindful of that while recording."

The lyrics of this song were written by Na Go-eun. The lyrics convey that through the 'DOREMI' spell of happiness in a complex reality, listeners are led to a brilliantly shining paradise.
Na Go-eun shared her experience of participating in the songwriting, saying, "Not just me, but everyone was given the opportunity, and I was grateful that my lyrics were chosen."
She continued, "Since 'DOREMI' was described as a spell, I imagined Purple Kiss finding happiness according to that spell. The guide was in English, and it was challenging to write the lyrics in Korean to match the syllables. But once it was all done, I felt like the song had a story, which made me happy," she said with a smile.
In response, Doshi said, "I didn't realize it when I heard the English guide, but Na Go-eun wrote the Korean lyrics beautifully, which helped me connect emotionally," while Chae-in also expressed satisfaction with Na Go-eun's lyrics, saying, "The lyrics stuck well in my mouth, so I didn't have to memorize them separately."
So, what is the goal of Purple Kiss's activities with this 180-degree transformation?
"In the 'DOREMI' stage costumes, there are pretty skirts. I've wanted to wear beautiful clothes during our activities, but I couldn't because of the concepts. So this time, I want to hear people say, 'You look pretty,' and 'You look like a fairy.' I also hope this activity becomes something that fans can remember happily for a long time," said Lee Re.
"We have been a team that has done conceptual music, but 'DOREMI' is an easy-listening song. Since it's a song that many people can easily access, I hope it charts well. Also, since the album is themed around happiness, I hope this activity is filled with happiness from start to finish," said Suan.
