After completing his military service, Suga of the group BTS has kicked off his activities with a donation.
On the 23rd, it was reported that Suga donated 5 billion won to Severance Hospital to establish the 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center' to help treat and promote social independence for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.
According to Severance Hospital, Suga has shown continuous interest in youth depression even during BTS activities, and in November last year, he communicated with Professor Cheon Geun-ah of the Child Psychiatry Department at Severance Hospital.
After several meetings with Professor Cheon, Suga agreed that customized treatment tailored to the life cycle of patients with autism spectrum disorder is necessary, and decided to donate 5 billion won. This is the largest donation ever made by an artist to Severance Children's Hospital and the entire Yonsei Medical Center.
Upon hearing the news, netizens reacted with comments like, “5 thousand, 5 hundred million is amazing, but 5 billion? That's really cool,” “It must not have been easy to make such a large donation, that's impressive,” “I really respect him. I will always support him,” and “I can feel the sincerity in the donation.”
In fact, public opinion about Suga was not very favorable. Last August, while he was serving in the military, he received a fine of 15 million won for driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol (a violation of the Road Traffic Act).
On the 21st, after completing his alternative service, Suga apologized to fans, saying, “I am sorry for disappointing and worrying you due to what happened last year,” and stated, “I will work harder to repay the love you have given me.”
He kept his promise. With this unprecedented donation, he has begun to repay the love he has received.
Additionally, it was revealed that Suga participated in the development of a social skills group program called 'MIND' for children with autism spectrum disorder from March to June this year, adding to his sincerity and receiving applause.
After being discharged from service, Suga has kicked off his activities with a donation. The world is focused on what his next steps will be and when we will see the complete activities of BTS, now all 'military veterans.'
