Megabox has captured the sweet and spicy flavor of tteokbokki, a 'soul food' for Koreans, in popcorn.
On the 30th, Megabox (CEO Hong Jeong-in, Nam Yong-seok) announced the launch of a new menu item, 'Haitai Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Popcorn', in collaboration with Haitai Confectionery. This popcorn features the sweet and spicy seasoning of the original tteokbokki snack 'Sindang-dong Tteokbokki', marking the third collaboration with Haitai Confectionery following last year's 'Osa Tsu Flavor Popcorn' and 'Country Corn Popcorn' from the 'Guhwangjagmul' series that matched the 'Halmaenial' trend.
To celebrate the launch of the new menu, Megabox will introduce a combo menu consisting of 'Haitai Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Popcorn' and a carbonated drink at 44 locations nationwide. The new popcorn will be served in a special package featuring the character of the Sindang-dong tteokbokki snack, the tteokbokki chef 'Jang Ttogi', who inherited the secret recipe from the original Sindang-dong grandmother, adding to its uniqueness.
A launch event for the 'Haitai Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Popcorn', which will be available for limited sale starting May 2, will also take place. Customers who purchase the 'Haitai Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Popcorn' combo menu will receive a 'Jang Ttogi' keyring on a first-come, first-served basis, while those who buy the popcorn alone will receive a Haitai Confectionery snack. At five locations including Megabox COEX, Hanam Starfield, Goyang Starfield, Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, and Daegu Shinsegae, 'Sindang-dong Tteokbokki' snacks will be given away, while other direct-operated locations will offer the energy bar 'Charging Time'.
A Megabox representative stated, "We are introducing a new menu that everyone visiting the theater during the May holidays will love," and added, "We hope you experience the delightful spiciness of Haitai Confectionery's Sindang-dong tteokbokki seasoning, characterized by its spicy umami flavor."
