With a pure visual that embodies goodness, an aura of charm that is anything but, and a peculiar allure, she is truly a chameleon. This is a description of actress Lee Seol, who showcased an overwhelming presence in her first thriller, 'Invasion'.
'Invasion' (written and directed by Kim Yeo-jung and Lee Jeong-chan) is a psychological thriller that depicts the cracks that occur when Young-eun (Kwak Sun-young) experiences a breakdown in her daily life due to her daughter So-hyun's bizarre behavior, and 20 years later, Min (Kwon Yu-ri), who has lost her memories of the past, encounters Hae-young (Lee Seol).
The webtoon of the same name recorded a high rating of 9.82 during its serialization, and the film was officially invited to the 29th Busan International Film Festival, receiving explosive responses from the audience who watched it in advance.
Lee Seol plays Hae-young, who suddenly appears in front of Min one day, showcasing unpredictable multiple facets. She creates a strange tension as she oscillates between getting closer to Min and maintaining a confrontational stance, making the atmosphere truly diverse. Kwon Yu-ri also boldly confronts with a strange face and heavy energy, but the difference in their skills is incomparable. Lee Seol demonstrates an overwhelming presence from her entrance to her exit.
"This is the first role without a foreigner setting and without using dialect," Lee Seol said, adding, "I felt so sorry after reading the script. I tried to understand the character with all my heart, and it was a continuous struggle. She was a character who wanted to be loved as she is more than anyone else."
She continued, "The desire for love is so great, but the way to express it is clumsy, and I think I did many actions that were hard to imagine because I didn't know. Although she is a prominent character, I tried to create dimensionality without being too overshadowed by that color. I was really happy to be able to speak Korean and use Seoul dialect. That alone was an amazing experience, and I was very happy."
Lee Seol debuted in 2016 by appearing in music videos for Jay Park and Girin, as well as Horan. In the same year, she started acting with a small role in the drama 'Two Women Season 2', and later made her way to the screen. She has built her skills in various fields, including the films 'Herstory', 'The Divine Fury', 'The Story of Rain and You', the dramas 'Bad Detective', 'When the Devil Calls Your Name', and the Netflix series 'D.P', as well as the play 'Othello'.
