Broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung shared her feelings during her battle with ovarian cancer.
On the 16th, KBS2's 'Problematic Men in the Rooftop Room' featured the couple Jin Tae-hyun and Park Si-eun, who shared their experiences and journey battling thyroid cancer.
Jin Tae-hyun said, "I found it during my first health check-up in my life. I improved to the point where I didn't need to take medication. My levels are normal after the surgery."
In response, Yang Se-chan congratulated him on his recovery, saying, "I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer 12 years ago. After I was discharged from the military, I went for a health check-up with my fellow comedians. I was the only one who asked the doctor to do a biopsy."
He continued, "I received the call about the cancer during a rehearsal. There was no time to be sad. I had to rehearse that day, and when I said I had cancer, my colleagues were like, 'You have cancer?' and everyone was joking around, saying 'Yeah, cancer, cancer,' and we laughed and moved on. At first, it was shocking and surprising."
Hearing this, Hong Jin-kyung said, "I think my colleagues didn't know what to do, so they comforted me in their own way."
She then recalled her ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2013.
She said, "It seems that when a person goes through such a big event, their personal characteristics come out. I didn't know what kind of person I was, but I was very bold. When I was diagnosed with cancer, I thought, 'I can just die. What else can I do but die?' I was completely bold. The doctor was surprised, saying, 'Is there really someone like this?'"
