Singer and actor Park Yoochun has shared his recent status.
On the 28th, Park Yoochun posted a short message on his SNS saying, “I hope everyone connected to me is as happy as I am,” along with a photo. In the photo, Park Yoochun is looking at the camera with a relaxed expression. Despite recently receiving a court ruling to compensate his former agency for his independent entertainment activities, his relatively calm demeanor catches the eye.
On the 27th, the Seoul High Court ruled in the appeal of a damages claim lawsuit filed by the management company Loud Fun Together (formerly Have Fun Together) against Park Yoochun and his former agency, L.Cielo, stating, “Park Yoochun and L.Cielo must jointly compensate 500 million won.” The court did not accept Park Yoochun's claim that the exclusive contract with his former agency had been terminated.
Loud Fun Together is the company that received exclusive management rights from Park Yoochun's former agency, L.Cielo, until 2024.
However, in May 2021, Park Yoochun demanded the termination of his exclusive contract with Loud Fun Together, and after failing to negotiate, he sent an official document stating, “If the settlement amount is not paid, the exclusive contract can be terminated,” along with L.Cielo. When Loud Fun Together did not respond, Park Yoochun notified them of the contract termination and began his entertainment activities through another management company, Company A.
In response, Loud Fun Together filed a request for a provisional injunction against Park Yoochun in August 2021 to prohibit him from appearing on broadcasts and engaging in entertainment activities, which the court accepted. However, Park Yoochun ignored the court's decision and continued his activities, including overseas performances and advertisements, with Company A. Loud Fun Together filed a damages claim lawsuit for 500 million won, stating that Park Yoochun, L.Cielo, and Company A infringed on their management rights.
At that time, the first-instance court stated, “Park Yoochun violated the court's provisional decision by engaging in entertainment activities through Company A without the consent of Loud Fun Together, and L.Cielo actively participated in this,” ruling in favor of Loud Fun Together.
In 2019, Park Yoochun was indicted on charges of methamphetamine use and was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation. He later announced his retirement from the entertainment industry but reversed that decision and continued his activities overseas. Additionally, he was listed among high-value and habitual tax delinquents published by the National Tax Service last December.
