Kang Hyung-wook broke the father's stubbornness in Nonsan and wiped the mother's tears in Seosan.
In the 8th episode of Channel A's pet solution entertainment show ‘The Time of Dogs and Wolves’ aired on the 23rd, solutions were provided for the killing dog in Nonsan and the biting dog in Seosan. Although the situation was still chaotic, clues to solving the problems of the two families gradually emerged.
Above all, the cooperation of the father guardian was needed at the Nonsan killing dog house. The father guardian, who opposed the solution, appeared and had a discussion with Kang Hyung-wook. The father guardian expressed his desire to adopt a pet, saying, “A puppy is just a puppy,” to which Kang Hyung-wook responded, “You should feel sorry, not sad,” delivering a painful remark. Ultimately, the father guardian promised not to increase the number of pets and agreed to cooperate with the solution.
A solution was also proposed to install kennels throughout the house, providing each of the six pets with a space to rest fully. This method maximizes the efficient use of limited space. Kang Hyung-wook emphasized, “Happiness doesn’t necessarily mean doing something together,” stating that each pet needs time to be fully with their guardian. In fact, as soon as the killing dog spent time alone with the guardian in the living room, it noticeably calmed down. The rough behavior of rushing at other dogs quickly disappeared.
Next came the wolf 2, the ‘24-hour biting dog’ house in Seosan. The guardians, former national team kayak athletes, caught attention with their sturdy physiques and unusual charisma. However, despite their impressive backgrounds as medalists, they struggled with the biting of their pet, which weighed less than 5 kg.
In particular, the unpredictable biting focused on the mother guardian led to a bloody incident. All of this was intertwined with the mother guardian's solo parenting. She was handling most of the responsibilities alone, from early morning walks to preparing special meals and daily care. Song Hae-na pointed out, “The family should be together, but the mother is doing it all alone,” and Kim Sung-joo expressed his sympathy, saying, “There’s no one at home who understands the mother’s feelings.”
The mother guardian, endlessly showering praise in hopes of changing the 24-hour biting dog, was filled with sorrow. However, her inconsistent attitude and tone of voice only widened the gap between affection and discipline. Accumulated emotions eventually spread into stress, reaching a breaking point. Kang Hyung-wook conveyed a message to the mother guardian, saying, “Don’t think of it all as your burden,” urging her not to handle everything alone but to share the load with her family.
In the subsequent visiting solution, another peculiarity emerged. The pets that were calm in front of the father guardian behaved differently in front of the mother. Everything went smoothly when only the father guardian was present, which made the mother guardian even more anxious. Could Kang Hyung-wook identify the cause of this stark difference?
‘The Time of Dogs and Wolves’ goes beyond simple behavior correction, delving deeply into the attitudes and environments of the guardians that underlie problematic behaviors. It provides a total of three stages of solutions, including initial feedback in the studio, close care in daily life, and actual living conditions of the guardians.
