It has been a year since the late PD Lee Joo-hyung, who participated in directing entertainment programs such as ‘Three Meals a Day’ and ‘New Journey to the West’, passed away.

PD Lee Joo-hyung died in a traffic accident on August 22 last year, at the age of 35.

At the time, PD Lee was working at Borderless Film, a subsidiary of Coupang Play, and it was reported that he died in a traffic accident while taking a taxi home after working late.

The taxi driver who was driving the vehicle was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling (causing death).

It was also reported that PD Lee was an 'expectant father' awaiting the birth of his first child in December of that year, adding to the sorrow.

The seven PDs of ‘New Journey to the West’, including Na Young-seok and Shin Hyo-jung, who worked with PD Lee, expressed their condolences through Media Today, stating, “PD Lee Joo-hyung had a greater sense of responsibility than anyone else for his work and always did his best until the end. He was a diligent junior who always turned on the lights first and meticulously checked and organized what was needed for the program. We will remember his place.”

Meanwhile, PD Lee joined CJ ENM tvN as a production PD in 2016 and directed entertainment programs such as ‘Three Meals a Day: Gochang Edition’, ‘New Journey to the West Seasons 2 and 3’, ‘The Great Escape’, and ‘Comedy Big League’.

He later moved to Borderless Film and participated in the production of the Disney+ sports documentary ‘Full Count’.
