The late actor Song Young-kyu has passed away.

The funeral service for the late Song Young-kyu will be held on the morning of the 6th. He was 55 years old.

The late Song Young-kyu was found dead in a vehicle in a residential area in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, on the 4th. Police, who responded to a witness report, cordoned off the scene and conducted an investigation, recovering and examining the body. It has been reported that no signs of foul play or criminal activity were found on the body.

The memorial hall for the deceased has been set up at the Davos Hospital funeral home in Yongin, with his two daughters and wife listed as the bereaved family.

Many colleagues, including Jo Seong-ha, Ryu Seung-ryong, Park Seong-woong, Yoon Kyung-ho, Oh Ji-ho, Cha Tae-hyun, Jin Goo, Yeom Jeong-ah, Noh Soo-san-na, Lee Sang-yoon, Hyun Bin, Lee Si-eon, Son Seok-koo, Namgoong Min, and Lee Sang-yi, sent wreaths to express their condolences.

In particular, actor Lee Jong-hyuk expressed his sorrow over the news of the late actor, saying, “It’s so absurd. I hated the world so much. I’m disappointed because I was weak. I really didn’t know it would come to this.” Actor Jang Hyuk-jin also said, “Hyung, you must have been very tired, scared, and worried. I should have at least called you,” adding, “To me, you were such a good person. Let’s meet again later.”

Actor Lee Jae-yong stated, “For an actor to give trust to their co-performers means they have gone through a very difficult journey to reach that level,” expressing his affection by saying, “He was a ‘good actor’ who gave such trust. He was a junior I cherished a lot because I saw a bright future ahead of him.”

Previously, the late Song Young-kyu was under investigation for allegedly driving under the influence from Giheung-gu to Cheoin-gu, a distance of about 5 km, at around 11 PM on the 19th of last month, and was sent to the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office without detention.

Born in 1970, the late Song Young-kyu made his debut in 1994 with the children's musical 'Mertel Dosa'. He later appeared in musicals such as 'Han', 'Les Misérables', and 'Ahn Jung-geun', and began his media acting career with the film 'Turn It Up' in 2002.

In particular, he became widely known to the public through the film 'Extreme Job' and later appeared in OTT content such as 'Suriname' and 'Casino'.

Recently, he was appearing as Pastor Yoon Se-hoon in the ENA drama 'I Shopping' and as rugby team coach Kim Min-joong in the SBS drama 'Try: We Become Miracles'.

However, following the revelation of his DUI incident, he was edited out of most of his scenes in 'I Shopping' and 'Try: We Become Miracles', except for minimal footage. He also stepped down from the play 'Shakespeare in Love' after the 25th.

The final resting place of the deceased is at the Hambeaksan Memorial Park.
