A restaurant in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, known through YouTuber and broadcaster Pungja's ‘Ttoganjip’, apologized for mistreating a customer who visited the restaurant alone.

On the 20th, the restaurant located in Yeosu posted a handwritten apology on its entrance that read, “We apologize for causing problems. We will greet customers kindly and gently in the future. We are sorry.”

This came after a recent controversy sparked by a video posted by female YouTuber A on her YouTube channel titled “A restaurant that gives you the cold shoulder after ordering two servings alone in 20 minutes.”

In the video, A mentioned that she was told by the restaurant that dining alone was not possible, so she paid 26,000 won to order two servings. Afterward, A sat in a corner, filmed the side dishes being served one by one, and then turned off the camera to eat quietly. Despite this, she was continuously urged and scolded by the owner, ultimately leaving without being able to eat properly.

As a result, the YouTube channel ‘Studio Suje’ also met with A to hear her explanation of the situation at that time.

A stated, “I received many interview requests. I was very scared, but I thought I had to come here because people were cursing at ‘Ttoganjip’ and I felt sorry as a subscriber that even Pungja was being cursed at because of me,” explaining the situation at that time. A also revealed, “People are very upset about the part I filmed, but (in reality) it was even worse than that,” shocking many.

As the controversy grew, Yeosu City Council member Lee Seok-joo also stepped in, stating, “In relation to the recent controversy over customer service at local restaurants, Yeosu City has delivered an official notice requesting restaurant owners and staff to improve their service.”

Pungja is also reportedly planning to revisit the restaurant in the future.
