Actor Park Jung-min has performed a good deed by donating audiobooks for the visually impaired.
On the 23rd, the Korea Disability Foundation announced that Park Jung-min donated the listening novel "First Summer, Wanju," produced by his publishing company "Muje," in celebration of World Book Day (April 23). The donated audiobooks will be delivered to about 40 disability libraries nationwide through the Korea Disability Foundation.
Written by novelist Kim Geum-hee, the book tells the story of the protagonist Yeolmae visiting her close sister's hometown of Wanju and experiencing changes as she meets various characters there.
Until now, visually impaired individuals could access audiobooks or braille content only after a secondary process following the publication of regular books. This edition is being produced as an audiobook for the visually impaired first, followed by the release of an e-book and a printed book.
The audiobook recording features actors Go Min-si, Kim Do-hoon, Yeom Jeong-ah, Choi Yang-rak, Kim Ui-sung, Park Jun-myeon, Bae Seong-woo, and Ryu Hyun-kyung.
Park Jung-min stated, "'First Summer, Wanju' is the first result of the listening novel project, produced to be presented to the visually impaired first," and added, "I will continue the 'listening novel' project to improve the access to books for the visually impaired."
The publishing company "Muje," operated by Park Jung-min, aims to kindly observe the small world, and in February of this year, it continued its sharing activities by donating the proceeds from merchandise sales for the production of audiobooks for the visually impaired in collaboration with the online store "Eolungdungtang Shop."
Park Jung-min has been actively working as an actor through various works such as "Dongju," "Sabaha," "Smuggling," and "Deliver Us from Evil." In 2019, he established a publishing company with the intention of discussing stories about the marginalized.
Park Jung-min connected with the public through the Coupang Play original series "Newtopia," which was released in February.
