Musical actors Kim So-hyun (49) and Son Jun-ho (41) revealed the recent status of their son, Son Joo-an.
On the 13th, while meeting with reporters at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Kim So-hyun was asked, "What would you think if your son wanted to become a musical actor?" and she replied, "I am completely opposed. I hope he doesn't."
Kim So-hyun said, "I know how hard it is. I hope he finds difficulties that I am unaware of. I think it would be stressful for a child to follow the same path as their parents who are in the same profession," adding, "In fact, when I was young, I was offered the role of the Crown Prince in 'Empress Myeongseong,' and I am glad I said, 'I absolutely do not want to do it.'
In response, Son Jun-ho said, "If he has talent and wants to pursue it, I would consider it. But he doesn't have the talent," adding, "He has a good voice, but he really dislikes showing off his strengths in front of others. Given the current situation, it's not great."
The musical 'Empress Myeongseong' is a representative Korean musical that depicts the life of Empress Myeongseong, the queen of King Gojong, the 26th king of the Joseon Dynasty, amidst the turmoil of the times. Based on Lee Mun-yeol's novel 'Fox Hunting,' it celebrated its 30th anniversary this year since its premiere at the Opera House of the Arts Center in 1995. It has been performing at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Jongno-gu, Seoul since January 21.
Kim So-hyun, who has been on stage in 'Empress Myeongseong' since 2015, and Son Jun-ho, who was cast as 'Gojong' for the first time in the 2018 season, will also appear together in the 30th-anniversary performance of 'Empress Myeongseong' as Empress Myeongseong and King Gojong.
