Actress Son Ye-jin shared her debut story from her high school days.
On the 21st, a video was released on the YouTube channel ‘Fairy Jae-hyung’ featuring Son Ye-jin, where she opened up about her school days. Son Ye-jin said, “I first met the representative when I was in my senior year of high school,” adding, “In fact, meeting him can be considered my debut.”
Son Ye-jin explained the process of joining the cosmetics advertisement ‘The Man with Flowers’ that Kim Hye-soo was shooting at the time. She recalled, “I wanted to act in Seoul and was attending an acting academy when I got an audition through an acquaintance,” and added, “That was my first advertisement in life and a project I did with senior Kim Hye-soo.”
She continued, “When I first met the representative, he said, ‘You should lose some weight,’” laughing. Son Ye-jin said, “Honestly, at that time, I didn’t have a refined beauty, and there were many people prettier than me. The standards of beauty were different from now,” and added, “I just had the desire to do it, but I think the representative had a unique insight.”
She made her debut in 2001 with the drama ‘Delicious Proposal’ right after the advertisement, taking on a leading role despite being a newcomer. Son Ye-jin humbly remarked, “Honestly, looking back now, it seems like there’s nothing to see in that work,” but the drama succeeded in the box office, surpassing a 30% viewership rating.
Meanwhile, Son Ye-jin married actor Hyun Bin in 2022 and welcomed a son in November of the same year. She recently made her return to the screen after seven years with the film ‘There’s No Way,’ and also attended the opening ceremony of the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
