Model-turned-broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung recalled the time she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

On the 16th, KBS2’s ‘Problematic Kids in the Rooftop Room’ featured guests Park Si-eun and Jin Tae-hyun.

On that day, Jin Tae-hyun mentioned that it had been about 90 days since his thyroid cancer surgery, saying, “I am healthy now. I actually feel better after the surgery.”

When Hong Jin-kyung said, “I think Park Si-eun was the most surprised when she first heard the diagnosis,” Park Si-eun replied, “I was surprised. I had a health check-up and thought something would come up. But I didn’t expect it to be cancer. It was my first health check-up in my life.”

Jin Tae-hyun stated that all his numbers returned to normal after the surgery, so he is not taking any medication. In response, Yang Se-chan remarked, “That’s a blessing. I have been taking medication for about 10 years,” drawing attention.

Yang Se-chan revealed that he discovered cancer after undergoing a health check-up with fellow comedians after his military service. He recalled, “The doctor called only me. Until then, I was fine. But then he suggested doing a biopsy. After the biopsy, a week later, I got a call saying it was thyroid cancer.”

He continued, “I didn’t have time to be sad. I had to rehearse, and the comedians were asking, ‘Why do you look like that?’ When I said, ‘It’s thyroid cancer,’ they responded, ‘He says it’s cancer,’ ‘Oh, cancer~ cancer~’ and we laughed and talked it over.”

When Yang Se-chan said, “At first, everything fell apart. I think Jin Tae-hyun must have found it hard when he heard that,” Jin Tae-hyun admitted, “It was really hard when I first heard it. I was so healthy and exercised a lot, so I never thought I would get cancer. I was depressed for about a day thinking about the cancer.”

He added, “But from the next day, my wife researched about cancer and stayed with me, which helped me overcome it.”

Hong Jin-kyung, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013 and fought against it, said, “When something big happens to a person, their true characteristics come out. I didn’t know what kind of person I was, but after being diagnosed with cancer, I became bold. I thought, ‘I can just die,’ ‘What else can I do but die?’ The doctor said, ‘What kind of person is this?’” surprising everyone.
