Song Jeong-hoon, the founder of cup rice who achieved an annual revenue of 60 billion won, reflected on his painful past.

On the afternoon of the 13th, during the KBS2 entertainment program ‘The Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears’ (hereinafter ‘Sadangui’), Song Jeong-hoon and his employees reminisced about the early days of the business.

In the broadcast, Song Jeong-hoon mentioned that he faced a third crisis and almost lost the company he had built over nine years overnight. He said, “I started with my idea, but I divided the shares 33.3% with three acquaintances. When the youngest partner left, the shares went to someone else, and those people said they would cut me off...” Song Jeong-hoon added, “There should be a reason to cut someone off. They said I hit and cursed at the employees. But my employees said that never happened,” trailing off at the end of his statement.

His wife and employee, Kim Ye-ri, said, “My husband suffered a lot and had quite severe depression and panic disorder symptoms. One day, he asked our daughter, ‘Should I quit cup rice?’ and she replied, ‘Dad, you always tell me to stick with something until the end, so why are you saying to give up?’” Song Jeong-hoon stated, “From that moment, I thought I had to protect it!” and revealed that he appeared on the investment program ‘Shark Tank’ to rise again.

‘Sadangui’ can be seen every Sunday at 4:45 PM on KBS2.
