The work ‘S-Line’, which won the ‘Music Award’ at the Cannes International Series Festival, is coming to viewers. Since it has been recognized overseas first, will it be a work that satisfies both the eyes and ears of the audience?

On the afternoon of the 7th, a press screening and production presentation for the Wavve original drama ‘S-Line’ was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. Director Ahn Joo-young, along with actors Lee Soo-hyuk, Lee Da-hee, Arin, and Lee Eun-sam attended.

‘S-Line’ is a fantasy thriller that reveals hidden truths and forbidden desires as a red line, known as the S-Line, begins to appear between people who have sexual relationships. It is an expanded work based on the webtoon of the same name by popular webtoon artist Kkobabi.

First, Director Ahn Joo-young explained, “I adapted the original work to a world where everyone can see the S-Line before it appears, a world that only some can see.”

‘S-Line’ was officially invited to the long-form competition section of the 8th Cannes International Series Festival, achieving the remarkable feat of winning the music award as the first domestic content.

Director Ahn Joo-young expressed his joy from the invitation, saying, “I was hoping for good news, but when I first heard about the award, I couldn’t believe it,” and added, “The auditorium was packed with local people, and after it ended, there was an overwhelming cheer, which was an unforgettable experience for me as a director.”

Lee Soo-hyuk also mentioned that even three months after returning from the Cannes International Series, he still finds it hard to believe, saying, “After returning, my affection for the work has grown even more.”

Lee Soo-hyuk plays the role of detective Han Ji-wook, who simultaneously tracks the secrets of the S-Line and a murder case. Regarding his choice of the role, Lee Soo-hyuk stated, “It’s a detective role, and I thought I could show a charm that I hadn’t shown before, so I chose it.”

Since the character Han Ji-wook has many settings related to the S-Line, Director Ahn Joo-young wanted to cast Lee Soo-hyuk for his convincing portrayal.

Arin, from the group Oh My Girl, plays the role of Shin Hyun-heup, a special girl who has been able to see the S-Line since birth. Regarding taking on a deep and dark character, Arin said, “Since I have always shown a bright and fresh image during my time with Oh My Girl, I think Hyun-heup might feel unfamiliar,” and added, “However, I have worked hard to show a different feeling, so I hope you will view it positively.”

Director Ahn Joo-young revealed the reason for casting Arin, saying, “The Arin I’ve seen on broadcasts has been very shy and still introverted, but despite that, she showed a strong will to jump into the fire for the character I was creating.”

In particular, for this work, Arin also attempted a transformation by cutting her hair short. Arin mentioned, “I wondered when I would have the chance to try something like this if not for the work,” and added, “But when it came out, the response was good, so I liked it even more,” indicating her desire for change.

Lee Da-hee, who plays the mysterious homeroom teacher Lee Kyu-jin, shared, “Kyu-jin is a warm, quirky teacher who sincerely cares for her students, but I hoped that all the cold feelings I have would disappear in the first scene of Kyu-jin’s appearance,” and added, “I thought a lot about showing the warmth inside as much as possible.”

She continued, “Kyu-jin has an inner world that is hard to understand,” and explained, “We discussed with the director how to express the temperature difference and emotions in those moments, but my character will only fully appear after episode 6, so I hope the viewers will watch along.”

Lee Eun-sam, who plays the role of the bullied high school girl Kang Seon-ah, who decides to take revenge after getting glasses, stated, “I set it so that Seon-ah doesn’t smile at all until she gets the glasses,” and added, “The point where she smiles for the first time after getting the glasses is a highlight.”

She further added, “For Seon-ah, the glasses are power. I acted while thinking a lot about how to use this,” sparking curiosity.

Finally, Lee Soo-hyuk remarked, “In a way, we create incidents using the provocative material of the S-Line and show it through characters, but there are many points to think about, such as how people’s actions and attitudes change when private areas or hidden areas are revealed,” and urged, “We worked hard on filming, so I hope many people will watch it.”

Lee Da-hee mentioned, “Today, the original webtoon’s author Kkobabi came to the waiting room to support us,” and said, “Even if it’s not the same feeling, I think viewers will enjoy it as they expected a new sense of synchronization.”

She added, “The music director who won the ‘Music Award’ at the Cannes International Series Festival paid attention to each episode, so I hope you enjoy the fun of watching and listening.”

‘S-Line’ will release 2 episodes on the 11th, 2 episodes on the 18th, and 2 episodes on the 25th, totaling 6 episodes.
