Super Junior's Kyuhyun showcased his unique frugality.
On the broadcast of KBS2’s ‘Problematic Men in the Rooftop Room’ on the 3rd, Shindong and Kyuhyun appeared as guests.
On that day, Kim Jong-kook's eyes lit up when a question related to ‘frugal tech experts’ came up, saying, “There is a pleasure that comes from saving.” He then mentioned, “There was a time when my personal credit card bill was under 900,000 won.”
Kyuhyun surprised everyone by saying, “My personal credit card bill has been under 500,000 won.” He continued, “I have never spent money recklessly since I was young. When I see my colleagues or juniors spending 10 million won at clubs for their birthdays, I am shocked. For me, flexing meant spending about 100,000 won at a barbecue place.”
Kyuhyun said, “Clothes are really cheap when you buy them online. So, I bought the same shirt in five different colors. I wear a shirt that costs 15,000 won.” He proudly added, “That’s the shirt I wear to the gym.”
In response, Kim Jong-kook expressed his frustration, saying, “Why do you wear a shirt to the gym? I’ve never seen Kyuhyun working out in workout clothes. He wears pants like slacks.” Kyuhyun laughed and replied, “They are slacks. Those cost 20,000 won.”
Moreover, Kyuhyun mentioned that he waits for the popularity of items to drop before purchasing, saying, “When Netflix’s ‘The Chef of Black and White’ becomes a hit, everyone waits in line to eat, but I don’t go.”
Shindong humorously countered, “I’m completely the opposite. I’m really sensitive to trends and have a strong desire for material things. I watch dramas as soon as they come out. I even set notifications. I really like shoes and clothes. If I have to wait in line, I ask a friend to pay extra to help me out.”
Kyuhyun drew attention by speculating that he might be the richest among Super Junior, saying, “I have failed many investments.” Kim Jong-kook empathized, saying, “People like us work hard to save money and end up losing it through investments or scams.”
Kyuhyun proudly stated, “I didn’t turn on the air conditioner last summer.” Hearing this, Yang Se-chan expressed concern, saying, “You should turn it on a bit. It doesn’t cost much.” Joo Woo-jae added humorously, “What kind of investments did you mess up?”
