The Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband', a global project by CJ ENM, Studio Dragon, and Amazon's Prime Video, has started its successful run amidst positive reviews.
The Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband' (original title: 私の夫と結婚して) is a drama adapted from a popular web novel of the same name, starring top Japanese actors Koshiba Fuka and Sato Takeru.
CJ ENM Japan and the largest domestic drama production company, Studio Dragon, are in charge of planning, while the production is handled by Libre Pictures, known for the film 'The Girl We Liked Back Then', and Shochiku, a major production company with a long history in Japan, drawing attention as a 'J-drama made by K-drama producers.'
Ahead of its premiere, an unusual production presentation was held in Korea with the two lead actors, marking the start of this cross-border global project.
The Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband' was first released on Amazon's video streaming service Prime Video on June 27, and immediately after its release, it ranked first on Japan's Prime Video according to global OTT ranking site FlixPatrol, garnering significant attention.
Additionally, the Korean version of 'Marry My Husband', which aired on tvN, ranked 7th among the most-watched non-English content on Prime Video in 2024 and 5th in the TV Show category, and with the release of the Japanese version, it has re-entered the top ranks of Japan's Prime Video TOP10.
Viewer reactions are also enthusiastic. On Japan's largest content review site, Filmarks, it has an average score of 4.1 out of 5, and on the world's largest content rating site, IMDb, it has a score of 9.2 out of 10. Japanese netizens have given various positive feedback such as, "It's different from typical remakes," "It seems well localized for the Japanese version," "The fast pace blends comedy and suspense well," "Koshiba Fuka and Sato Takeru's performances are great, and I'm looking forward to what's next," and "Congratulations on reaching number one on Amazon."
Lee Sang-hwa, the co-executive producer of the Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband' from CJ ENM's Global Content Production Team, stated, "The actors' passionate performances and K-drama elements seem to be harmonizing well, receiving good responses locally," and added, "CJ ENM will continue to strive to present better works in the global market through various collaborations, so we ask for your continued interest."
The Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband' will be released in two episodes every Sunday at 11 PM starting from the 6th on tvN. It will also be available for viewing on TVING after the broadcast.
