A quiz show ‘Brain Academy’ that will satisfy viewers' intellectual desires with six representative brains from the entertainment industry is coming.
On the morning of the 29th, an online production presentation for Channel A's entertainment program ‘Brain Academy’ was held. The event was attended by Jeon Hyun-moo, Ha Seok-jin, Lee Sang-yeob, Yoon So-hee, Hwang Je-sung, Kweido, CP Seo Hye-seung, and PD Moon Young-seok.
‘Brain Academy’ is a knowledge-charging quiz show where Jeon Hyun-moo, Ha Seok-jin, Lee Sang-yeob, Yoon So-hee, Hwang Je-sung, and Kweido team up to answer high-quality quizzes presented by the best scholars in South Korea, aiming to earn ‘knowledge medals’. Each week, a master representing a specific field will present high-level step-by-step quizzes.
CP Seo Hye-seung, who planned Channel A's humanities talk show ‘Humanly’, and PD Moon Young-seok, who delicately captured the psychology of young men and women in ‘After Signal’, will direct the show. Additionally, writer Lee Eun-byeol, who created ‘Brain Sex Era - Problematic Man’ (hereafter ‘Problematic Man’), and the writing team behind ‘Naked World History’ and ‘Naked Korean History’ are coming together for ‘Brain Academy’, raising expectations.
CP Seo Hye-seung introduced the program as “a knowledge-charging quiz show that makes you smarter while laughing.” He added, “It started at PD Moon Young-seok's desk. There are many PDs, but not many read books; however, PD Moon has a stack of books and reads them. He puts in a lot of effort to acquire knowledge.”
He continued, “It was shortly after ‘Heart Signal’ ended, and since he was very interested in intellectual content, I casually asked, ‘Do you want to try it?’ If it were other PDs, they would have said, ‘I’ll think about it,’ but he was very eager to do it. It started with the authenticity of his intellectual content, and that’s what makes this program unique,” expressing his affection for PD Moon.
CP Seo also added, “I wanted to create an Avengers team of producers by recruiting the writers who worked on ‘Problematic Man’ and ‘Naked World History’. I’m happy to meet the six Avengers of the cast afterward.”
Jeon Hyun-moo, who is set to represent the brains of South Korea in ‘Brain Academy’, said, “When doing multiple programs, chemistry can form late or not at all for years. There are programs I’m involved in where that happens,” and hinted at the chemistry, saying, “This program has only done two episodes, but it feels like we’ve been doing it for about two years.”
He added, “This is my first time broadcasting with Hwang Je-sung, but seeing how we match up, it feels like we’ve been living together for 10 years. It’s comfortable. Even though I think about having to solve problems, it feels good. The chemistry is almost perfect.”
Hwang Je-sung said, “This is my first challenge with such a program. We’ve recorded about two episodes, but I will be taking on the role of the sexy brain moving forward.” He continued, “When the others solve problems, it’s intellectual. The thrill of solving problems feels sexy. Even when someone else gets it right, their cheering feels sexy.”
In response, Jeon Hyun-moo jokingly said, “What kind of X is that?” Hwang Je-sung replied, “I won’t say exactly who, but their dress code is like ‘The Era of the Wild’ Gu Ma-jeok. It’s almost like a thief level. It’s like Justin Timberlake.”
He added, “When I see that person, I think of aespa’s ‘Savage’. They steal all the answers. It’s amazing. I was really surprised,” causing laughter.
Ha Seok-jin also said, “I was very excited to be on a program where I can think with Hyun-moo after a long time. But I thought, ‘Was this the character in the first recording?’” He added, “The other four were also angry, which made me feel good. I relate a lot to Hyun-moo.”
Jeon Hyun-moo said, “I’m sorry. We’ve recorded about two times. I’m taking on the role of ‘Savage’ in ‘Brain Academy’. I’m acting as if I’m doing it all.”
Kweido expressed strong confidence in the science field. Kweido said, “I can organize (the team members) with my weak science. I will organize it with about 10% knowledge and lead the program.” To this, Hwang Je-sung retorted, “Why organize when we’re on the same team?” but Kweido replied, “After trying to harmonize, there are those who need organizing,” raising expectations for their chemistry once again.
Finally, Kweido said, “Some people think science is about getting the right answers, but science is about gradually moving towards the truth through the process. The goal is not to get the right answer. You can gain information that is not easily accessible. You must watch the main broadcast,” encouraging viewership.
Lee Sang-yeob also said, “EBS should be nervous,” hinting at the educational nature of the broadcast. In response, Jeon Hyun-moo said, “This is not Channel A’s official position. I really like EBS,” but added, “Many people miss ‘Problematic Man’. This will be less difficult than that. It won’t be too brain-wracking. You’ll build common sense and have fun.”
‘Brain Academy’ will premiere on Channel A at 10 PM on the 29th.
