‘Pyeon Restaurant’ Hayoung exudes an art college sister vibe even while cooking.
In the KBS2 show ‘New Menu Launch Pyeon Restaurant’ (hereafter ‘Pyeon Restaurant’) airing on the 23rd, Hayoung's surprising baking skills will be revealed. Last week, she made her first appearance as a chef and caught attention as a ‘ramen lover’ who cooks ramen with her own recipe as soon as she wakes up in the morning. Soon after, she expressed her regret over her favorite pickled radish being all gone and showcased her cooking skills beyond simple home cooking by quickly making more pickled radish. Her cheerful laughter and friendly personality, which spread joy to those around her, also became a hot topic.
In the released VCR, Hayoung discovered baking tools while organizing her cooking utensils and began baking. It turns out that Hayoung enjoys making desserts such as cupcakes, chocolate cakes, tiramisu cakes, and crepe cakes.
Hayoung said, “There isn’t much flour, so I will try to make a pavlova cake with eggs.” The pavlova cake, made with meringue cookies, boasts a crispy exterior like a cookie and a sweet, chewy texture inside, and its visual appeal has made it a hot menu item on social media recently. However, it is a luxury cake that costs between 60,000 to 80,000 won to purchase. Hayoung raised expectations by stating, “Anyone can make it with just eggs and sugar. The process is simpler than you think.”
Hayoung's attempt to make the pavlova cake faced a significant hurdle from the start. Due to not having brought all her kitchenware from her family home yet, she lacked a whisk. Realizing this late, Hayoung felt a moment of despair but demonstrated remarkable ingenuity by creating perfect meringue without a whisk. With her unique aesthetic sense added, the pavlova cake was completed.
Everyone was impressed by Hayoung's ‘art college sister’ vibe as she made the cake. As revealed in last week's broadcast, Hayoung has been majoring in art since middle school and even studied abroad at one of New York's top three art colleges. The cake, crafted by Hayoung's skilled hands, was beautifully completed like a piece of art, evoking admiration.
