‘Taekyung Ilju 4’ is generating buzz from its teaser video, raising expectations.
The second YouTube teaser video “How About Here” for MBC's representative entertainment program ‘Born to Travel the World 4’ (directed by Kim Ji-woo, hereafter ‘Taekyung Ilju 4’) surpassed 1 million views just two days after its release. Released on April 11, this video features the first meeting of the four members of ‘Kippasidek’ and as of April 14, it has recorded 1.5 million views, further heightening anticipation for Season 4's main content.
‘Taekyung Ilju 4’ achieved the remarkable feat of reaching over 1 million views for both the first teaser video “The Place You Were Curious About” and the second teaser.
In the “How About Here” teaser video, the four complete members of ‘Taekyung Ilju’—Kian84, Pani Bottle, Lee Si-eon, and Dex—are seen joyfully reuniting at Lee Si-eon's home in Heukseok-dong after a long time. It was also revealed that Yoo Tae-oh, who appeared in the music travel segment, was cast in a Hollywood film produced by the makers of ‘John Wick’ and unfortunately could not join them.
When the youngest, Dex, appeared holding jokbal (pig's trotters) in front of the older members who had gathered at Lee Si-eon's home, they welcomed him warmly and showered him with compliments about his improved appearance. Although the members had previously discussed reducing alcohol for health reasons, they soon found themselves toasting with beer cans, and they encouraged Dex, who had shown a weak side during their travels in India and Madagascar, to do well on this trip as well. Kian84 humorously expressed his desire for Lee Si-eon to at least respond with a “ㅋ” whenever he posts a message in their group chat, while the members playfully argued that it was even weirder, creating a humorous chemistry.
As they discussed their travel destinations, Kian84 mentioned the documentary “Chama-godo,” explaining that they plan to travel along the world's oldest trade route starting from China, passing through Nepal and India, and ending in Pakistan. Dex was surprised and asked if India was their destination.
During the conversation, Dex, a former UDT member, added that the Gurkha regiment in Nepal is world-renowned for its mercenaries, and Kian84 jokingly suggested that they should experience military life during this trip. Dex responded seriously, saying he was going for a trip, not for training, which elicited laughter.
‘Taekyung Ilju 4’ will follow Kian84 and the members on a challenging journey along the “Chama-godo,” the highest and most rugged mountain area in the world. They are expected to vividly convey the unique cultures and lives of ethnic minorities starting from the Everest region in Nepal, providing viewers with an unforgettable experience.
This season is particularly noteworthy as it is the concluding journey themed around ‘mountains,’ following Kian84's previous challenges with ‘forest’ in the Amazon, ‘fire’ in India, and ‘water’ in Madagascar. Kian84 revealed that the purpose of the trip is to understand the lives of people living at the highest altitudes, and he plans to highlight both human limits and the greatness of nature in Season 4.
The production team expressed gratitude for the explosive response to the teaser videos, stating, “In the main program of ‘Taekyung Ilju 4,’ we will present more realistic and in-depth stories about humanity, nature, and culture,” and urged anticipation for the broadcast.
Meanwhile, MBC’s ‘Taekyung Ilju 4’ is set to premiere in May, and behind-the-scenes videos are being released every Tuesday and Friday at 6 PM on the official YouTube channel ‘Taekyung Ilju Base Camp.’
